Interweave

I don't  feel anything inside
she said
It's just a black hole in there

Is she talking about her body
I thought
Is she talking about her emotional state

All the things I feel are on the surface
she said
Like pencil stabs all over me

It's all interconnected and the same
I thought
Her body, her emotions, her relationships

I guess it's painful.  Sure, it's pain
she said
But a pencil stab isn't as sharp as a pin

We're all woven together in this elaborate web
I thought
Our minds, our bodies, our families

Of course it is.  We're all interwoven
I thought she said
But instead of seeing the web, I feel so isolated.

We're all microcosms of this spectacular design
I thought to say
But when we're caught up in it we do feel alone

If we can see how our cells, bodies, communities
I think I said
and the planet, solar system and universe connect

Right.  I see.  We are part of the pattern and
She thought I said
We are the pattern so we can't always see it

For a minute we stepped outside of things
I think
And saw the strands that connect us
