The Way She Works
I stand back, slightly
Ready to help if needed
Not wanting to interfere.
Your process is determined,
Fingers flying over the keys.
I watch you building something.
From a tangled knot of video clips
You are patiently teasing out a story
Expertly arranging and rearranging.
Before my astonished eyes
You have assembled a finished piece
From virtually nothing at all.
I have watched you do this for years
Gathering objects, hardware, junk
Saving them like precious treasures
Placing in some mysterious order
Creating from discarded debris
A magical place that only you can envision.
